Shrimp Saganaki
DESCRIPTION
Shrimp Saganaki is a classic Greek seafood dish that's rich, vibrant, and surprisingly easy to make. Tender shrimp are seasoned with Spicelopedia® Italian Lemon Pepper before simmering in a savory tomato sauce made with sweet onions, garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and a splash of dry white wine. INGREDIENTS
| Shrimp, peeled & deveined | 1 lb |
| Spicelopedia® Italian Lemon Pepper seasoning | To taste |
| Yellow onion, diced | 1 |
| Garlic cloves, minced | 3 |
| Crushed tomatoes | 1 (15 oz) can |
| Dry white wine | ¼ cup |
| Tomato paste | 1 Tbsp |
| Feta cheese crumbles | 4 oz |
| Orzo pasta or rice | For serving |
STEPS
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of oil.
- Season the shrimp generously on all sides with Spicelopedia® Italian Lemon Pepper seasoning.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute per side, until partially cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes, until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the white wine and scrape the pan to deglaze.
- Stir in the tomato paste until combined.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and mix everything together in the skillet.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and fully cooked through.
- Sprinkle feta cheese over the top and briefly heat until slightly melted.
- Serve over orzo pasta or rice.
